EQUIPMENT PURCHASING GUIDE

Home or Commercial Gym Equipment

The same machine shape can be sold as a home unit or a commercial unit. The difference is not the colour of the frame. This guide explains what actually changes and what to ask before you buy for a business.

Duty cycle is the real dividing line

A home machine is designed for one or two users a day. A commercial machine is designed for continuous use across opening hours. That difference shows up in the frame gauge, the bearings, the upholstery and the cable or belt specification. Two machines can look identical in a photo and be built to very different duty cycles, which is why the model rating matters more than the picture.

What to compare, model by model

  • Frame and welds: commercial frames are heavier and usually have a stated maximum user weight. Ask for the figure per model rather than assuming it from the category.
  • Wear parts: cables, belts, pads and bearings are what fail first. Ask whether replacements are available and at what cost.
  • Upholstery: commercial padding is denser and usually replaceable separately. Home padding often is not.
  • Stability under load: a machine that rocks at 100 kg is not a commercial machine, whatever the listing says.

Floor loading and installation

A selectorized stack machine concentrates weight in a small footprint. Before ordering a row of them, check what your floor can take and whether the machines need to be fixed down. Also measure the route in: packed cartons are usually larger than the assembled machine in at least one dimension.

Our own catalogue mixes both

We list home and commercial models side by side, and we say so where the listing states it. For example, the foldable electric treadmill is listed for home use, while the commercial curved manual treadmill is built for gym floors. If a page does not state the rating, ask before you assume.

Questions to send a supplier

  • What is the rated duty cycle and maximum user weight for this exact model?
  • Which parts are considered wear items, and what do replacements cost?
  • Are pads and cables available after the warranty period?
  • What is the packed carton size and gross weight?
  • Does the quoted configuration include the attachments shown in the photos?

Next step

Send us your floor plan, expected users per day and the models you are comparing. We will confirm which of them are rated for your setting before you commit. Build an inquiry list or browse the full catalogue.
