Small Gym Equipment Buying Checklist
Plan a small gym or personal training studio with a model-by-model checklist covering strength, cardio, free weights, layout and delivery.
Start with the users and the room
A private training studio and a shared commercial gym can need different equipment even when their floor areas are similar. Record expected simultaneous users, session format, opening hours and the space available for each station. Share a floor plan including doors, columns and ceiling height before discussing an equipment list.
Build a shortlist by training area
- Strength: compare the dual-pulley functional trainer, Smith machine power cage and adjustable weight bench. Ask for working dimensions, permitted loads, attachments and installation requirements for each selected configuration.
- Cardio: review the commercial curved manual treadmill, ZF7500 commercial spinning bike and foldable air rowing machine. Compare their operating and storage needs with your planned sessions.
- Free weights: specify the weight mix and quantity for rubber-coated hex dumbbells and rubber-coated weight plates. Confirm plate bore size, bar compatibility and whether bars and collars are included.
Separate home-use and commercial-use equipment
Do not assume every product in a broad equipment catalog is rated for a commercial gym. For example, our lat pulldown and low row machine listing is for home use. Ask for model-specific suitability for your operating hours, user profile and intended setting before adding it to a business project.
Allow for use, access and maintenance
The machine footprint is only part of the layout. Allow space for moving arms, cables, loading plates, getting on and off, and access for maintenance. Confirm required clearances in the equipment documentation. Have the site’s flooring, structural loading and powered-equipment supply requirements checked by the appropriate local professionals.
Compare complete quotations
Request quantities, exact configurations, included attachments, packing sizes, gross weights and destination-specific freight terms. Ask which assembly work is required and who will handle unloading. Review model-specific warranty coverage, spare parts and required documents before ordering; these are not uniform across the catalog.
Prepare a practical first order
Use your expected simultaneous users to prioritize stations, then discuss optional additions separately. Keep a list of required and optional equipment so the quotation can show alternatives clearly. Explore our personal training studio plan and small commercial gym plan, then combine the products and quantities in your inquiry.
